The forecasts of an economic downturn in the event of a Brexit vote have largely been unfounded to date, confounding the forecasters. Cars sales have risen and even more impressively so have retail sales. UK retail sales rose at their fastest annual rate in 14 years in October, according to The Office for National Statistics, with sales volumes up 7.4% from a year earlier. Internet sales were particularly encouraging, posting their strongest growth for five years by jumping almost 27%.
